Planning the progressive Christian leadership summit-

Our next step will be to engage all of our friends from the conference.

If you did not participate in the conference but are interested in participating in the Leadership Summit please let us know info@crossleft.net

Audio from the Path to Action has been trickling through the editing process. It is just too good to wait for all to be available. So far we have E.J.Dionne's speech, remarks from David Hollinger, Corwin Smidt and Larry James about American politics and religion today, and Osagyefo Sekou's remarks about organizing against the war. Take heart. Listen to Christians who see God's role in our world as too important for sound bites or slogans.
Here is the address for an audio feed .xml file to plug into your podcast or news reader:

Jo and Scott, I just sent an e-mail connecting us all and following up on our conversation from last Friday. The e-mail I have for him is different than the one Scott posted. So now we have shouts out to him on two fronts. Also, he & I have e-mailed eachother after the conference and I'm very happy to share that he's confirmed that he will be contributing sermons and meditations to CrossLeft.org that we will soon be able to upload. Looking forward to continuing the conversation off-line.

Doh!! It's not as if he didn't organize the conference and provide us steady doses of emotional and spiritual support in San Francisco...

Say hello to PunkMonk, Br. Karekin!

I wasn't really sure what to expect going down to DC for this conference. But one thing is for sure - I am glad I went. We all have a lot of work to do but I am glad I was able to meet some new people and truly be reenergized.

Most likely I was a minority there in that I live in the corporate world - but I don't think the purpose of this movement is to destroy the corporate world but rather nudge it in the right direction. Looking at companies like GE and BP and their campaigns for environmental technologies - they are starting to get the hint that there is money to be made by cleaning things up. Now we need to convince them that paying people living wages non only in the US but around the world will help them in the long run.

I have often said - if you look at the airlines - the companies that have as their main goal - happy customers and happy employees are making money - those who's goal is to make money are loosing it.

There is a lot of work for us to do - but I think that this site can help us all to network and communicate our efforts. Thanks to all who set it up.

It truly was an amazing conference! Thank you, Jo for bringing us together and inviting us from other Christian traditions to attend this Episcopalian led event! Bob, you are right, we are winning. We are winning by building a networked, synergistic community of interdenominational progressive Christians. & this is only the beginning! So, how do we take this to the next level? I think it comes down to our collective intelligence and making things happen as a community. To Helen's point, we will be launching a CrossLeft web-zine in the coming weeks, where contributors will have the opportunity to witness their faith and share what is happening across the spectrum of progressive Christian initiatives. Helen, thank you for taking the lead on this as the editor of the CrossLeft web-zine! Bob, Sarah and Scott thank you for agreeing to submit articles! Friends, please help us spread the word. We are winning. We are building a movement. We need all progressive Christians to join us and bring their bit of sand as we build the beach of this movement. Please help us spread the word!

I just want to thank you for giving me that email nudge that prompted me to attend, and for all your hard work assembling the speakers, moderating panels, and introducing me to fellow bloggers and progressive Christians.

I was thinking that attending would fuel my fire for being a blogger in this movement, and it has done so more than I could have hoped!

"We have already won. Why don't you join the winning side?"

Jo, I am so sorry I didn't get back with you this afternoon. I came home and took a four hour nap. Now I'm sifting through notes and more than 100 pictures trying to find what to post. I'm giving updates at my church tomorrow on everything we talked about.

It was so awesome meeting all of you and the many more who will be joining crossleft in coming weeks. I invite everyone to join in the dialogue and I'll be helping develop an email newsletter to come out once or twice a month to help keep people informed about what's going on at crossleft and across the spectrum of progressive christian initiatives. Together, we can make a huge difference, building bridges within our respective denominations and reaching across the Great Divide in this nation.
