Greater New York Labor-Religion Coalition Worship Service
Dear Friends,
We had our first worship service outside the Redeye Grill on Friday and it was great. Thanks to many of you for coming out! We generated a lot of interest in the workers' situation from people passing by, and we even turned a few people away from eating at the Redeye.
Please join us again for our next worship service on Thursday at 6 pm.
We are a group of seminarians studying at Union Theological Seminary, and we've heard about the outrageous treatment of workers at the Redeye Grill. More than 50 workers have filed a lawsuit against the restaurant for unpaid overtime wages, sexual harassment, unfairly appropriated tips, and retaliation for speaking up for their rights. We have begun holding weekly interreligious, inclusive worship services to support the workers, on the sidewalk in front of the Redeye Grill.
Through singing and worshipping, we call on the public to follow their moral conscience and not support a restaurant that is exploiting its employees. The next service is TOMMORROW - THURSDAY NIGHT, 6-7 PM Redeye Grill - 890 Seventh Ave., corner of 56th and 7th Avenue Take the 1/A/C to Columbus Circle or the N/Q/R/W to 57th St. See you Thursday!
