Where are the Women? (BlogHer is coming! & CrossLeft's been invited!)

Call me crazy, but I long to see more women leading the progressive movement- especially when it comes to the topic of faith.

I guess this might sound kinda funny coming from a nice Catholic girl.

But I'm serious.

Where are the women?

Truth be told, there are some phenomenal ladies out there leading the charge, but for the most part, it has been my experience that the face of the progressive faith movement is white and male; and not that I have a problem with white men. In fact I am quite fond of them. =-) However, I'm all for an accurate representation of our country's demographics in positions of leadership, and that means women of all colors co-leading the progressive faith movement.

& that's where BlogHer comes in.

I am going to BlogHer on a mission, convinced that I'll find many amazing progressive women leaders who are people of faith and interested in being involved in this movement.

Check it out:

& they've graciously invited us to participate in a panel:

Will do my best to keep you posted & blog about it.

I'm fairly new to this movement and I would have thought women would be strongly represented in any leadership. Considering how many "women's issues" are of key concern in people wanting to live their faith out (abortion, equal rites, etc.) I'm curious as to why women are underrepresented. Are they more involved with other forms of activism (feminist, political, gay rites, etc.) venues? Maybe this one is too new.
