I have helped win a U.S. Supreme Court case that established Student Rights in America, as a plaintiff.

I received the same award as Rosa Parks, Joan Baez, Thurgood Marshall, and William O.Douglas.

The book is about being sent to prison for being a former Vietnam War protester, lifetime pacifist, Conscientious Objector, and a current gay Democrat, and my experiences there. I believe I was the closeset thing to a terrorist that he could see.

I was sentenced less than one month after 9/11/01, by a straight white Republican Judge, who was a Vietnam Veteran, who knew of my politics, and did not approve of them. I got out of prison this year, and was dumped at a Homeless Shelter, where I still live, and I eat at a soup kitchen.

It was the experience of my life; as a reporter in Wounded Knee, a college graduate, and 56 years old, and it was my first lifetime felony charge, which did not involve drugs, sex, violence, criminal intent, nor did I profit a dime.

It is a story of despair, pain, frustration, anger, hurt, hopelessness, hope, humor, joy, spirituality, forgiveness, and love.

I ended up interviewing 100 inmates from murderers, bank robbers, child abusers, rapists, kidnappers, robbers, drug dealers, to gangbangers. It is the first study ever done from the inside, by an insider. I developed a 75 question survey, from worst crime committed, to sexual orientation, to greatest lesson of prison, to what you'd tell your son if he was coming to prison, to greatest lifetime achievement.

18% admitted to crimes never charged with, including serial murderers, to 21% admitted being sexually straight, but also admitted to more than one adult gay experience.

It's fascinating, and life is a wonderful gift, especially with freedom and the Internet.
