Rock River Star at CCDA 2006 - and I discover Eastern University
Rock River Star is hard at work these days and nights getting ready to launch www.SoChange.org (watch for it!) - a.k.a. The Network for Social Change.
We are intent on launching in time for the opening of CCDA 2006 here in Philadelphia. (www.ccda.org)
In the process I have gotten to know a whole lot more about Eastern University and their School of Social Change. (www.eastern.edu/change) Eastern, as it turns out, is one of those gems that I - a lifelong Philadelphian - had overlooked. These are the kind of Christians who work side by side, as brothers and sisters, to make a better world. Strong people who care for the sick, care for the weak, care for the poor, care about the future of our kids. You find people like this all over the world - but there will be a concentration of them in Philadlephia this weekend!
My men's group has been working over the idea of "the path(s) not taken." It was never clear to me that the social justice/economic justice path really did exist. Looking back - enrolling at Eastern is a path not taken - I wonder...
