Action Alert: Iraq repeating itself with Iran

"My station was intimidated by the administration and its foot soldiers at FOX News."

That is CNN's Christiane Amanpour explaining why the major television networks failed to properly scrutinize the Bush administration's claims before the Iraq war.1 Instead, they joined FOX in broadcasting the Bush administration's pro-war talking points without a response.

This week, a YouTube video from film director Robert Greenwald reveals how FOX is at it again—this time, beating the war drums against Iran. FOX uses the same images and Bush talking points now as they did in 2003.

Can you watch the new YouTube video? Then, sign our open letter to major TV news outlets asking them not to follow FOX down the road to war with Iran?

After thousands of Americans sign the open letter, it will be sent directly to the TV news directors with a request for a response. Here's an excerpt:

In 2003, FOX said "Al Qaeda is in Baghdad" and evidence of WMDs was "irrefutable." In 2007, they suggest Iran "is forging ties with Al Qaeda" and the evidence against Iran is "unequivocal."

FOX is a propaganda machine. But as a real news station, you have a sacred responsibility to dig to the bottom of stories and report the truth to the American people. Please don't repeat the mistakes of the past by blindly following FOX down the road to war.

Robert Greenwald points out, "We've already compiled over 4 hours of FOX footage...the same images, sound effects, yelling and threatening that led the U.S. to invade Iraq is happening right now to sell a war with Iran. They are saying the exact same things!!"2

We cannot let other networks follow FOX's lead. Can you watch the video and sign the open letter to them today?

Thanks for all you do.

P.S. Can you support this people-powered FOX campaign? This year, MoveOn helped stop FOX's plans to host two Democratic presidential debates—and we're continually working to minimize FOX's power. A donation of $10, $20, or more would go a long way in helping us contine our ongoing campaign. You can donate here—and thank you:

We won't be fooled again

THIS is why I love the Internet; the bastion of the New Fourth Estate/civilian journalists and we the people can come together and confront Big Brother and the limp lamestream media.
