Letter to the Executive Directors of the International Monetary Fund:
As a member of ONE, I am writing to remind you that Liberia has met all of the conditions for debt cancellation, yet Liberians continue to be burdened by a $4.5 billion debt- $800m of which is owed to the International Monetary Fund.
Liberians have been waiting for 18 months for the IMF to make good on its promise of debt relief, and I urge you to redouble your efforts to secure immediate debt relief for Liberia by:
Persuading IMF shareholders to pledge larger shares from the Special Contingent Account #1 (SCA-1) and deferred charges accounts.
Asking for larger cash contribution from individual shareholder countries.
Working with President Bush, Secretary Paulson and the leaders of other key shareholder countries to come to a deal on debt relief as quickly as possible.
I look forward to hearing your plans for immediate action.
Sincerely,
(Your Name)
