About the Debate
Crossleft would like to help facilitate cohesiveness and cooperation among the leaders and groups, which form this movement. We want to invite these leading figures of the movement to answer a series of questions relating to the peace and justice. In the long term, it is our hope to produce a panel of leaders that is inclusive and representative of the Christian population, as a whole, for the face of Christianity is brown, red, yellow, Latino, African American, and female, as well as white and male. We would also like to include Progressives of other faith traditions.
At CrossLeft.org we believe that all of our voices need to be heard. We believe that it is time for us to put aside our differences and join together behind an agenda with concrete action steps for there is much that we share. It is only as a unified faith community that we will be able to promote peace and justice in the world. If we want peace and cooperation, we need to exemplify peace and cooperation.

In February of 2006, Crossleft.org sponsored a Summit for a Progressive Christian Leaders. Fifty leaders from the Progressive Christian Movement participated in this gathering and together worked on an agenda with common goals. In this agenda, four values were identified as essential to the Movement. These values were: love of God, neighbor, and self; compassion; justice; and the common good.

As we seek to heal our movement and our country, let's keep those values in mind. In the spirit of that summit, let us launch a debate to clear the air, and focus on our next action steps, as we follow Jesus.

Details:
· There will be one question a week, for as many weeks and questions as we (the planning committee) agrees on.
· These weekly issues would be open for comment and debate by the readership on Crossleft. The Crossleft readership would determine the content of the questions.
The questions could be about (but not limited to): the Iraq War, Globalization, the Environment, Economic Justice, The Military/Industrial/Media complex paradigm, Immigration, Israel/Palestine, and whatever other issues which might be relevant. .
