all violence is the same violence
i know that it sounds crazy to link, rape and abortion as the same act when one is meant to "help" the other. it also must seem ironic to put euthanasia and capitol punishment in the same category after all one is meant to punish the guilty the other is supposed to allow "death with dignity"
violence is not a tree that you can cut enough branches and kill the tree. it is a vine for every branch you cut it grows back more full and lush than before. every act is linked to every other act. it may seem strange to think that an abortion in the US is linked to an execution in Iran or torture in China or deforestation in Brazil.
is it as hard to think that carbon emissions in the us are effecting the polar ice caps?
is it hard to draw the line between poverty and violence?
all violence is based on the same system of social injustice. one nation has something that another wants, so they find a way to justify taking it by force, so than a girl that is scared to tell her parents that she is pregnant pays someone to kill her, living, child. so than a man sees that "her body, her choice" so how can we tell him not to do what he wants to his girl. so than another man sees violence gets you what you want and he uses it to get what he wants. so than the government uses violence to kill him. so than a family sees a way to not have to pay for medical care for an elderly member. so what does that tell a girl in that family?
it's all the same, if it is such a horrible thing to be pregnant, than it is a horrible thing to be a woman. than it becomes a horrible thing to be poor, than a minority, than human. where does it end? what can we break to keep the vine from overgrowing our entire earth?
