You know her. Or him. She’s galvanizing her neighborhood every day. He’s bringing about progressive change, bit by bit and leap by leap.

But she’s not on the front pages. He’s not doing it to get on TV. They are doing the critical hard work for change, quietly, behind the scenes, without any care for fuss and fanfare.

These people are the real stars of the progressive movement. Please help us honor them at Take Back America 2008, March 17-19.

At Take Back America 2007, we honored the legacy of Maria Leavey, an organizing wonder and dear friend to all progressives. After she passed away unexpectedly, the Maria Leavey Tribute Award was established, to celebrate Maria’s life and work, recognize those who follow in her footsteps, and inspire others to emulate her example.

You submitted hundreds of nominations, voted for the most deserving and selected Ari Lipman to be the inaugural recipient. He was honored for his role in mobilizing 1000 volunteers, pressuring the political and business elite in Massachusetts and moving the state towards universal health care.

Now we need your help again, to continue this important award and establish a lasting legacy.
