Protestant martyrs

I was very disturbed to get a mailing from Voice of the Martyrs in which a young man in Chiapas who has recently been converted to a fundamentalist Christian sect goes to another town and is murdered by some townspeople who are described as Catholics. This kind of inflammatory story, which seems to pit Christians against each other, and seems to say that Catholics are barbaric and non-Christian, and in need of being converted by Protestant missionaries, is abhorrent to me.
Most of the Catholics I know are willing to work with the Protestants, and to try to share information about Christianity, and do work to help promote the gospel. But some fundamentalists are so ignorant or belligerent, that this sort of story is promoted as "missionary work"-- when it may have been other social issues which provoked the tragic altercation and death of this young man.
I will pray for all the people who are involved. Somehow, we need to overcome the barriers, and all act like Christians, and learn to be respectful of each other's faith.
