Alienated!

sincemylastconfession's picture

According to the Boston Globe, the Vatican announced that belief in aliens from outer space is perfectly consistent with belief in God.  Extra terrestrials, the Vatican’s chief astronomer pointed out, would still be God’s creatures:

“Ruling out the existence of aliens would be to put limits on God's creative freedom.”

The remarks came in the context of a discussion of the Church’s persecution of Galileo for heresy in connection with the scientist’s theory that the earth revolved around the sun and not vice versa.  According to the chief astronomer,

“The church has somehow recognized its mistakes.  Maybe it could have done it better . . . .”

Indeed.  It could do better today, too.  If only the Church would stop putting limits on God’s creative freedom and acknowledge the possibility that gay people – today’s aliens – could engage in mutual, respectful, loving, and fruitful relationships without denying their sexuality.

But then, it’s a lot easier to profess brotherhood with someone far away like an extraterrestrial than with those who are actually in your midst.

Familial Love

Scott,

Bless you for your advocacy for the gay community! As we learn to accept, appreciate, and learn from all peoples, the problems of this world will disappear.

I saw the article to which you referred above and celebrated that the Associated Press actually published it in America. My particular interest is in awakening our knowledge of our galactic family, knowing that they come in love.

I also yearn to see that alienated people, i.e. the gay community, are welcomed into the loving arms of God's family. No member of God's family should be burdened with having to prove his/her worth--every individual is essential to the unfolding of the Divine Plan on Earth.

Actually, I see a connection between recognition of our galactic family and the gay community. I believe that with the open arrival of our galactic family, Earth humans will realize that God's family consists of much variety and that it is not our business to judge any one of them.

We are family!

It is only certain members of the family of man who do not see gay and lesbian people as part of Our Creator's family. I am certain Our Creator does not see it that way. As the Bible says in Genesis, we were all made in the image of God. To not accept anyone, no matter who they are, as part of the family of God would place Our Creator in the position of rejecting a part of Our Creator, thus diminishing the whole of creation. I seriously doubt Our Creator had, and has, that in mind.

Yearn no more. Simply remember that you, and all your gay and lesbian friends, are, always have been and always will be a part of the family of Our Creator and thus by extension the family of man. It's your divine birthright.

Succinct analogy

Hello Since..
This is perhaps the most succinct analogy on loving the alienated among us that I have read.
