Honoring Steve

First off, let me say that I honor Steve’s decision. I did the same thing on my first website. Way back when a Guest Book was the only means of posting individual comments, I removed the Book due to undesirable comments.

I contributed blogs on Crossleft regarding the topics of reincarnation and our galactic family because, from the years of research I have done, I believe them to be topics that churches will have to face head on in the very near future. So much has been covered up from the time of Constantine and the early ecumenical councils on down through the ensuing 1500 years. Along with the internet came opportunities for thousands to research on their own. What has been covered up is now coming into the open and being shared on numerous websites.

Christians will increasingly encounter the need to discern truth for themselves … to research and find answers on their own … and to determine for themselves what impact these heretofore hidden facts have on their faith and spiritual journey. By introducing the subjects in blogs, I was inviting Christians to begin to think of their lives in a broader sense and to recognize that God’s world contains far more life and wonders than we have suspected.

The resulting upheaval on Crossleft is a very small sample of what it will be like when the myriad cover-ups are exposed … and that is happening at this very moment. For ministers in particular, I would think preparing ahead for the multitude of questions that will come your way would be most beneficial. It will no longer suffice to voice the old response “that’s not a part of Christianity.” Much that is being uncovered is a part of human and universal life—religion has nothing to do with it. God’s creation and universal laws are not based on manmade religions.

Angelo mentioned his church is now discussing reincarnation. I would think that introducing the subjects of reincarnation and our galactic family in the form of an invitation to discuss them together would be a means of preparing your congregations. No dogmatic pro or con decisions need be made … simply allow your congregations to openly discuss the topics. Guide your members into thinking for themselves—into seeking and discerning truth for themselves.

I can tell you, from my years of teachings metaphysical classes to mostly former church members, that your members will go outside the church community to seek truth. Why not allow them to seek within the church? Once people move forward on their spiritual search and find the answers to their questions outside the church, it is next to impossible to return to it. Why not allow churches and members to grow together?

Constantine and the ecumenical councils began a tradition that has continued into the 21st century—that of telling Christians what they are to believe and enforcing strict adherence to the accepted doctrines. That’s why Christians have not grown up with a recognition of reincarnation and our galactic family. Archaeological research has uncovered irrefutable evidence of beings from other planets residing for varying periods of time on Earth. Had churches been open all along to integrating newfound knowledge into the Christ-centered spiritual journey, we would not be having this discussion today.

I have supplied numerous websites and names of books in the hope that you will explore them. Two of the recommended websites center around the various levels of conscious awareness accessible by humankind.

http://www.noetic.org/about/vision.cfm The Institute of Noetic Sciences was founded by former astronaut, Edgar Mitchell, as a result of the mystical experiences he had while in space.

http://www.monroeinstitute.com/program.php?program_id=17 The curriculum at Monroe Institute in Faber, Virginia includes training in remote viewing. Skip Atwater, President of the Monroe Institute, is the primary trainer in remote viewing. Atwater is a former Operations and Training Officer for the U.S. Army intelligence remote viewing surveillance. The CIA also uses remote viewing surveillance.

Life is far more than we know … you, as a being made in the image of God, are far greater than you know! I encourage all of you to explore on your own. And remember Paul’s address on “gifts of the spirit” in I Corinthians 14.

It is up to each of you to determine for yourself how life in the world relates to your Christian faith.

Now, on to blogging about other topics.

Respectfully...

I, for one, don't think such topics should be forbidden. On the contrary, I think the debate on the subject is healthy. But I think there should be a willingness to welcome concerns, rather than dismiss them as reactionary cover-ups from the less enlightened. One should also be open to criticism and take it constructively. Most of what I have heard is the original author posting something, then a bunch of people disagreeing, then a bunch of people saying we should not block discussion. But there's only so much I can take of this. I'd much rather talk about ways of helping the poor. I'd much rather worry about my neighbor than looking to the skies for a sign. I think Jesus might have talked about it.

I don't think this an upheaval so much as it is fatigue.

I think perhaps what made some people bristle or balk at this subject is that for a month it seemed to be the only discussion happening on this forum. With all that is going on, taking on such a subject -- even if every word of it were true -- would be unproductive, IMHO.

not my call

Nancy,

Let me just say this is not my call...we have an agreed upon set of focus and topical area for this online community. Whether there's a violation of those standards isn't up to me but really this community. There seemed to be some variance of opinion on a number of these items.

I welcome your continued insight on the issues relevant to this particular community.

Nancy

You are an interesting and intelligent lady Nancy, I hope you stick around. I think you could get away with discucssion about reincarnation or something related to consciousness, and the possibilities of man, such as remote viewing. Its the galactic family and telepathically communicating with aliens subject matter that are making some squemish and being questioned as being on topic.

Separating Categories

I think we need to separate reincarnation, channeling, speculation of other life in the universe, and the identifiable galactic family. Reincarnation is a religious end, therefore it should be on the table. Channeling is a perceived spiritual experience, therefore it should be on the table. Speculation of other life and the significance of it theologically is a standard part of today's theology, so it should be on the table. But I don't believe that the galactic family should be. It is based on an assumption of "historical facts" that that are unverifiable, without which the assumption crumbles.

i agree

this is an important distinction...claiming connection with aliens as fact is what is frustrating to me and is not based on any Christian theology or science.

theorizing as to reincarnation, other life in the universe should be topics on the table even though they're aren't a huge part of the purpose of the online community.

Not trying to gang up on Steve

Yeah, in defending Nancy, I'm not trying to gang up on Steve on this. Steve has done a wonderful job as moderator of this site, and it must be a difficult job making sure that Crossleft stays true to its purpose of providing a forum for the Christian Left. And he's raising important disclaimers, making sure that Nancy's posts on reincarnation and the galactic family are somehow connected to Christianity and are appropriate to this site. It's up to Nancy to explain how those subjects would be of interest to Christians and the readers of Crossleft.

I'm personally neutral to the idea of reincarnation and the galactic family. I've always thought of reincarnation as being more of an Eastern religion thing. And the idea of a galactic family initially made me wary because it reminded me of scientology. But I'm willing to listen if Nancy can make the connection between this and her own Christianity.

I like what Gary did. He made a series of respectful posts arguing why he didn't think reincarnation really fit into the Christian religion and he backed it up with arguments and biblical support. The point is not whether we agree or disagree with Nancy or Gary, but that we allow a free flow of debate when these issues occur. I liked how Gary argued out the merits of his position on the same terms as Nancy, and I appreciate how they both put out their arguments and let us make up our own minds.
