Some Questions
Questions from Jim:
For Barack Obama:
1. On Iraq, you repeatedly say you will withdraw combat troops from Iraq but will leave troops to fight anti-terrorism, train Iraqis, and protect the embassy. How many troops do you estimate this will be? You have also said you may re-deploy some troops to Kuwait. How many troops do you anticipate redeploying to Kuwait? Is this a true change in policy or just a shell game that appears to be a shift in policy but is really meaningless?
2. A bill to support a cabinet level Department of peace will be reintroduced in the house when the next congress convenes. It asks for 1% of the federal budget to study and implement peaceful and non-violent solutions to everything ranging from school yard bullying to domestic abuse to international warfare, will you support such a measure?
3. What are you going to do to make the Veterans Administration more responsive to the needs of veterans especially those recently traumatized by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?
For John McCain:
1. The U. S. has 2% of the world’s known oil reserves and uses 60% of the world’s oil. Drilling domestically is not going to get us out of the jam we are in. The oil companies have thousands of unused oil drilling leases right now and billions of barrels of oil in capped wells right now in Alaska. Everyone who has taken the time to study the situation knows offshore drilling as the answer to our problems is just a spin to give the oil companies all that they want for total control in order to control the market and the supply. Give us a real solution and tells us how you are going to stop ever rising gasoline prices.
