Post debate polls show a clear win for Obama

CNN reports that a large majority of voters polled thought Obama won, handily. McCain's "that one" jab cost him dearly, cited by many as coming across from a mean old man. Obama came across as calm and strong, refuting many of McCain's false statements.

Most importantly a large majority of uncommitted voters said Obama won, though it may not have helped them decide. It seems many like Obama but still have serious questions about his ability to serve effectively.

Clearly Obama has the lead. All he has to do is introduce himself more effectively to the large # of uncommitteds.

Debate? What debate?

Was there a debate last night? I didn't see one. Same old, same old. ZZZZZZZZZZZ

Consensus with Charlie Rose and crew seemed to be that Sen. Obama won by showing grace under fire. Strong steady hand, with external events pushing him along. It may be boring to us hotter hands but it seems to be working. Now is not the time for a Maverick, but a steady reasoned voice reassuring folks that he will lead us with carefully thought out, measured, innovative programs.

Sen. Obama may have to cut back on some programs unless he gets a veto proof Congress, which the polls say he may get. Meanwhile I'll keep holding my breath that the Neo-cons are not able to mount an October surprise, unless of course, Osama bin Laden thinks his interests would be best served by mounting a serious attack on American interests somewhere near our homes, then all bets are off and Sen. McCain gains a huge issue that's bound to rattle our collective cage.

Let us all pray for a peaceful ending to this long election season, with the election of progressive 21st century American leadership.

I agree that this debate really wasn't

I agree that this debate really wasn't much of a debate. I'm not sure if it's because I followed the primaries and have heard the answers of Obama and McCain almost verbatim before. I usually like town hall meeting type debates, but this seemed kind of canned to me. I think Obama spoke well of his positions, but I don't think either candidate really answered the people's questions, and it sort of defeated the purpose of the town hall meeting type debates.

This may be an unfair criticism though. I thought the best debater so far hasn't been Obama or McCain, but Biden. He was knowleadgable, relaxed, and connected more readily than either one to people.

The debate

Not sure why I watched. McCain acted ilke a hothead. Guess I wanted to witness if there were a meltdown (nearly was). Brokaw surprised me with his Russian evil question. I didn't understand the logic. seemed to be a step back several generations. There has never been any question as to who I'm voting for. God save the democracy.
