Great Turnout at the Detention Center Protest
We had beautiful weather on Sunday and a great turnout. Over 200 people showed up to protest the inhumane treatment of immigrants at the Elizabeth Detention Center. The march stretched almost the entire length of Evans St.

Kathy thank you for posting here!
Kathy I was there but a bit late I'm sorry we didn't get the chance to meet. It was a great turnout and I met some wonderful people while there. I found the location and building where the men and women / world citizens are being held surprising. If it wasn't for the one or two uniformed officers in front of the entrance gate one would never know that people were being held there. If I remember correctly the warehouse behind the 'site' was a Shop Rite (a grocery chain) distribution center and the building across the street was rental truck company. That's the point though isn't it?! Hide the inhumane conditions and atrocities that are going on in every corner of every small town in America.
I think the event was wonderful and I encourage everyone to try and attend these events in the future. I also encourage concerned individuals to speak out against the immigrant raids that are going on across our country and against the very existence of these detention centers.
